The Pledge!
I PLEDGE TO HELP OUR RIVERS AND LAKE MICHIGAN, THE REAL WATER PARK!
I will lead by example and challenge others to follow my lead. I pledge:
- To direct my home’s downspouts into rain barrels, yard or garden instead of the sewer or driveway.
- To cleanup after my dog and other pets.
- To test my soil before fertilizing it and to not overfertilize my yard.
- To plant a rain garden with native plants.
- To check toilets and faucets for leaks; a leaky toilet can waste 200 gallons a day!
- To try to use less water when it’s raining.
- To keep my car tuned up to stop oil, antifreeze and other fluids from leaking.
- To leave grass clippings on my lawn instead of raking them.
- To mow my lawn less frequently and set the mower blade to 3 inches.
- To take my car to a carwash or wash it on my lawn so soaps and detergents don’t go down the sewer.
